Passportgate like deja vu
I don't think I know enough of the details to comment very well on the news that somebody or somebodies accessed Barack Obama's passport records -- certainly don't know why but it's hard not to be suspicious. Often enough these stories take a while to develop to being reasonably complete. It's worth remembering that this isn't the first time it has happened. They did it to Bill Clinton too, back when another Bush was in the White House.

Hi, Alan... I didn't see an e-mail address for you here, so I'm leaving a blog comment. I don't know if you heard this news yet, but Kenneth Gregg passed away on the morning of March 14.
I am having a get-together for folks over dinner in his honor (there apparently are no services scheduled for him in Las Vegas, where he was living). His wife, Debbie, contacted me within the last couple of weeks. Ken had been in home hospice for about a year with end-stage congestive heart failure, so that's why he wasn't posting anywhere on the internet.
Anyway, you're more than welcome to join us. Here's where we will be eating. I reserved for 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2008:
Baiplu Thai Restaurant/Aki Sushi
1626 East Seventh Street
Long Beach, California
(562) 436-3123
This is not far from the old Anarchovillage. It's been a favorite of mine ever since I lived down there. No separate banquet room, but the food is good. It's been remodeled over the years, and now is half Thai restaurant and half sushi bar.
Please let me know if you can make it. Landline phone for me: (661) 940-6128. pbmaltzman@yahoo.com
